Chris Rookwood moved to Toronto in 2009. That’s when Chris fell in love with clay. It’s process, it’s creativity, it’s endless possibilities. Chris works with a variety of clay bodies creating functional tableware with design that makes each piece unique. Last year she started to focus on larger, more sculptural pieces that move beyond function to artistic expression. Creating form and design for each piece is a process that necessitates patience, curiosity, experimentation, thought, and for me, an intimate relationship with clay itself. The ability to laugh at and learn from disappointments are key to keeping my creative channels open and alive.
