Woodlawn Pottery Studio Membership

Woodlawn Pottery Studio is a pottery co-operative which began as an adult education program of the Metro Toronto YWCA, located on Woodlawn Avenue East. When the program was discontinued in 1983 eager participants took over the operation of the studio as an independent non-profit organization. After 34 wonderful years we discovered that we were no longer able to continue renting as the YWCA needed more space and resources for the women it serves. However, we are thrilled to have opened a more spacious and bright new studio at 1009 Dupont Street in Toronto as of March 1st, 2018.

We have a limited membership of 20.

Obligations and Privileges of Membership

Full information on members’ responsibilities and rights will be made available at the time of joining the co-operative. The following are highlights:
  • members are mandated to sit on the board as needed and at least every 3rd year
  • compulsory participation in members’ annual show and sale (including preparation and execution)
  • rotation of assignments for studio maintenance and glaze preparations
  • attendance at studio meetings
  • permission to use all studio equipment including kilns
  • members are to buy their own clay and tools
  • new members are assigned a 'buddy' to facilitate the introduction to studio assignments, procedures and equipment
