Carolynn Bloomer (she/her) is a graduate of Ontario College of Art (now OCADU). She maintains a studio where she enjoys making small-edition tableware, wall works, and sculpture. Her work is in the collection of Scotiabank and has been purchased by Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada. Her work is sold at the Gardiner Museum Gift Shop, Clay Design, and Local Colour (Flesherton). She teaches at Toronto Potters and Clay Design, and is very happy to be able to combine her love of clay and teaching at Woodlawn Pottery again. Her work can be seen on Instagram and Facebook at Carolynn Bloomer Ceramics, and her website is carolynnbloomer.com.

Danica Drago (they/them) is an interdisciplinary artist and ceramic arts facilitator based in Toronto. They earned their B.Des in Material Art and Design: Jewellery & Metalsmithing from OCAD University in 2015, but spent most of their time in the Ceramics department. They have led a dedicated teaching practice in ceramics for the past 9 years, working with youth and adults in local studios across the GTA. As a mostly self and community-taught ceramicist, Danica’s practice as a tool and object maker spans over a decade of working with clay, metal, and many other material languages; allowing them to offer a uniquely encouraging and exploratory making approach for students of any learning style or level of experience. They are passionate about helping people build their own creative skills and confidence with clay, inside and outside of the studio.

Hatice Nacar (she/her) is a passionate ceramic artist and dedicated teacher with over 20 years of experience involved in both creating and instructing in the field of ceramic arts. Hatice is known for hands on teaching approach and deep understanding of clay techniques. She has helped students of all ages explore their creativity and develop technical skill in wheel throwing, hand building, glazing, and firing.

Hatice opened her first studio in Turkey 15 years ago and she started teaching. She designed special wall tiles for buildings for their lobbies. In addition, she took lessons on tile painting and design from the masters of this art in Turkey.

She moved to Canada and opened her second studio called Toronto Pottery Studio in Toronto 10 years ago. She offered workshops, private lessons, and beginner to advanced classes.

Ian Symons (he/him) studied ceramics at Rhode Island School of Design, Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and Alfred University, New York.  A highly accomplished potter, Ian has won numerous awards for his art and has been part of over 50 art and ceramics exhibitions during his tenure.  Ian has close to thirty years experience teaching ceramics including The Gardiner Museum, Sheridan College, George Brown College, Nova Scotia School of Fine Arts amongst others. Ian has also been awarded for his work from the National Biennial of Ceramics and Ontario Crafts.

​Karin Pavey (she/her) was born and grew up in Toronto. She began her ceramic studies in Sweden and is a graduate of both Sheridan College and the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design where she received a BFA. She was a ceramic instructor for many years at the Gardiner Museum. In addition, she has taught at Sheridan College, the ROM, Avenue Road School of the Arts and the Toronto District School Board. She currently works in her Toronto west end studio and teaches part time at the Woodlawn Studio. Karin is an established and respected Canadian potter whose colourful tableware has been exhibited in North America and Europe. She has been the recipient of many awards and honours, including grants from the Ontario Arts council, and her work has been showcased extensively in both public and private collections.

Lisa Young Chow (she/her) has been living and working in Toronto’s East End for many years. After graduating from the Ontario College of Art and Design, specializing in printmaking and ceramics, Lisa partnered with a fellow graduate to start one of the first ceramic arts studio cooperatives on Danforth Avenue. Lisa continues to develop her body of work while teaching pottery and sculpture to adults and teens at various city art studios, as well as managing a pottery cooperative and volunteering her studio to run a weekly clay drop-in for neighbourhood seniors.
 
Lisa’s most recent pieces are wheel thrown stoneware travel cups with playful surface imagery.  The comfortable, sustainable designs, with fitted lids and silicone sleeves, encourage you to take your cup wherever you’re off to.
