About Us

Woodlawn Pottery Studio is Toronto's oldest pottery co-operative. We offer beginner and intermediate classes to the public, and have an active membership of approximately 20 experienced potters.

More than just a place to take a pottery class, our studio is designed for people who want to spend time working with clay, learning from each other, and becoming part of an active  ceramics community. Students and members both get to discover potters at different stages of their practice, growing alongside and taking inspiration from each other.

We began as an adult education program of the Metro Toronto YWCA, located on Woodlawn Avenue East. When the program was discontinued in 1983, eager participants took over the operation of the studio as an independent non-profit organization. After 34 wonderful years we were no longer able to continue renting from the YWCA as they required more space and resources for the women they serve. Since March 1st, 2018, we have been located in our spacious and bright studio at 1009 Dupont Street.

Our studio amenities include nine pottery wheels, two kilns, a slab roller, and more than 20 shared glazes that you can mix and match.
