Class Information
Come play with clay! Woodlawn Pottery Studio offers multi-stream, mixed-level courses. Each course teaches foundational hand-building and wheel throwing techniques which may be applied to both functional and sculptural forms. Classes offer a flexible curriculum to accommodate adult potters of all levels. Class size is restricted to ensure individual attention.
Cost for 8 weeks (3hr sessions) is $570.65 incl. HST and 5 kg clay
Please note: if a student must miss a class, we are unable to offer makeup class time.
Beginner Stream
The Beginner stream is for people new (or newish) to clay. Students will focus on material exploration, experimenting with the core techniques in clay: pinching, coiling, slab-rolling and building, wheel throwing and trimming, and glazing. Demos and hands-on activities will give everyone a chance to explore processes and develop a small number of take-home products.
Intermediate Stream
The Intermediate stream is for people familiar with clay who want to develop their technique and their skill repertoire. Intermediate students generally work independently on projects of their own choosing, supported by demos, exercises, and instruction as needed. Intermediate students often explore new forms and surface decoration (e.g., coloured slips, texture, glazing techniques) and have a chance to refine their work.

Students currently registered are given first priority for the following session. Full registration for all students is based on payment received by e-transfer. Please complete the class request form below and our Class Registrar will provide class updates and registration and payment procedures.
