Reema Tarzi

When I took a sculpture class in 2013 I really enjoyed the hands-on directness of working with clay. I also took classes in drawing which I loved. With my tile work I found that I could combine and continue to improve both skills. 

I make animal relief tiles from drawings that I feel capture something of the animal's nature. I also make tiles based on Islamic designs, a very different but still satisfying drawing technique. Something about their boldness and geometric shapes combined in beautiful symmetry feels timeless.
