Michele Silveira

Me artistic! Ha! I am a scientist. I measure, I record facts, I draw conclusions based on facts. My world is full of exact and undeniable scientific and mathematical facts. It has no room for errors.

Arty stuff is not my comfort zone yet here I am a  member of a Pottery Studio. Potting away to glory and loving it.

I want my work to catch your eye and draw you in.  Touch it, pick it up, turn it over, look at the colours, the shape, and the texture. I want it to be a hands on experience. You may not wish to own it but please feel free to enjoy it, or gift it to someone who will love it.

I am still in an experimental stage and probably always will be. Pottery has so many variables it is mind boggling. What you see here is a result of experiments with different clay bodies, glazes, textures, shapes. I start working on sensible pieces and something about it reminds me of something, a place or country I have visited, my mind drifts and a metamorphosis takes place. It is exciting and I want to keep working on it. I can’t wait for it to be finished. Today it may be bowls, tiles and frames; tomorrow it may be statues or vases. Who knows? I just let inspiration lead the way.
